Ex-MEGADETH Guitarist GLEN DROVER Releases Cover Of AL DI MEOLA's 'Egyptian Danza'
April 1, 2009Canadian guitarist Glen Drover (ex-MEGADETH, KING DIAMOND, EIDOLON) is working on a full-length album of instrumental rock/fusion songs. The first track to be completed is a cover version of AL DI MEOLA's "Egyptian Danza", also featuring Jim Gilmour (SAGA),Chris Sutherland (KIM MITCHELL) on drums and Paul Yee on bass.
You can now check out the song on Drover's MySpace page.
Comments Glen:" It's a little different from what you would normally expect from me. It's pretty much jazz meets prog in this case. Originally a jazz song, but now has a strong prog side, mostly from me and Jim Gilmour, who have prog-type backgrounds. The band really have played amazing on this track and there is an obvious chemistry here that we all acknowledge and are very excited about!! I want to thank Jim, Chris and Paul for their awesome playing!
"Speaking of awesome playing, I will have some special guests on the album as well. Will give you an update on that in a little while. In the meantime, we are still in writing mode for the rest of the tracks, so the process is a little slow, which is fine by me, as we are in now rush whatsoever. We of course want the whole album to be as strong as humanly possible! May be able to squeeze in two or three more drum tracks in before SAGA goes to Europe for April and May. This way, I can keep the ball rolling along."
Drover left MEGADETH at the end of 2007 and was replaced by Chris Broderick, who has previously played with NEVERMORE and JAG PANZER.
